The Abath is a species of Wesen: a creature that can disguise itself as a human. In their undisguised form, they resemble bipedal horse-like humanoids with a single horn on their heads, similar to that of a Unicorn.
Biology[]
According to the diaries of a Grimm, the Abath are vicious killers and prey on human children by impaling them with their horn before eating them. They are primarily nocturnal and prefer to dwell deep in the forests, making the Grimm speculate that the Abath can probably see well in the dark.
Appearances[]
- Grimm, s03e22, "Blond Ambition" (2014) (Seen in diary only)
Notes[]
- In real life, the word "Abath" was originally used by 16th century explorers to refer to a female unicorn from Southeast Asia, whose horn was prized for its magical healing properties. Nothing else is known about this beast, although the name seems to be etymologically-linked to the African abada. However, some speculate that the Abath was merely a Javan rhinoceros.
