The Aculeozzo are a species of giant blowfish mutated by the T-Abyss Virus aboard the Queen Zenobia.
As they have never been witnessed elsewhere, this particular mutation is currently considered to be extinct.
Biology[]
Aculeozzos are barely affected by the mutation normally caused by the various viruses, including the T-Abyss. Their mutation primarily consists of ramped up aggression and a vast increase in mass and overall size, as well as a newly-garnered but far from perfected amphibious nature. Some individuals can reach immense sizes not seen in other individuals. This actually makes them one of the most harmless of all B.O.W.s; their only means of attack is by ramming a victim with their many spines, but even this does only minimal damage. They are durable against low-end concussive blasts such as from firearms, but are vulnerable to both shock grenades and, surprisingly, stabbing implement such as combat knives.
As a species, they still retain their survival instinct and will attempt to flee should their own lives come into danger, though their aquatic nature leaves them to only flop about ineffectually. Being mere fish, they are affected by Poisonous Lures.
Etymology[]
In Italian, "aculeo" translates to "stinger" or "spine", referring to the numerous sharp spines that dot their skin.
