Adam Smasher is (or possibly was) a totally-converted cyborg mercenary.
History[]
Born and raised in New York City, Smasher spent his early years as a thug with a street gang, rising through the ranks to become leader of the whole operation, but eventually, the rest were all wiped out and Smasher saw no other place to go, so he made the decision to enlist in the army. During his service, he would develop a reputation as a muscular brute, weighing at least 108kg before an as of yet unknown act of insubordination got him saddled with a discharge.
When he returned to civilian life, he decided to go back into the underworld, becoming a mercenary of high renown throughout New York for undertaking only the most violent and brutal of gigs, showing less empathy than a literal brick and spending all the money he could on drugs, weapons and sex. But like all great times, Smasher's time in New York would end when, while in the middle of an Arasaka-funded robbery, two rocket propelled grenades blew Smasher to a mess of blood and guts, with only his brain remaining intact.
After months of sitting in a tank, Arasaka contacted Smasher via a modified form of braindance tech and made him the offer of a modified Samson FBC to act as his new body in exchange for his services, Smasher quickly accepted, on one condition, whenever he did a job, he would never have a limit on the number of civilian casualties deemed "necessary". After years of on and off work with Arasaka and a development of a rivalry between Smasher and fellow mercenary, Morgan Blackhand, Smasher was fully employed by Arasaka to fight along with their private armies in the Fourth Corporate War.
One year later, Smasher was sent along with a security team to secure the regional HQ of Arasaka in Night City, the aptly named Arasaka Tower, after it was broken into by two groups of Militech-backed mercenaries, including Morgan Blackhand, Smasher hoped that he would find Blackhand and end their rivalry once and for all, but instead found himself face to face with rockerboy Johnny Silverhand (who himself believed he had a rivalry with Smasher) whom Smasher promptly killed shortly before the two miniature nuclear explosives within the building detonated, completely destroying much of the tower as well as Smasher's cybernetic body.
After this, Smasher was given a new modified IEC Dragoon FBC and began to collect and divide up the belongings of Johnny Silverhand amongst his closest associates and became head of Arasaka Security, not to mention becoming the personal body guard of Yorinobu Arasaka. The last two years of his life we have recorded included him taking on the cyberpsycho merc David Martinez and being present at Konpeki Plaza shortly before the death of Saburo Arasaka.
