Albert Julian 'Al' Rothstein is the Atom-Smasher, a size-changing hero and member of Justice Society and sometimes the Justice League.

Appearance[]

Atom-Smasher is a physically fit caucasian male who is always at least 6 feet tall. Most versions have blue eyes and auburn hair with one version having brown eyes and light brown hair. Another version has brown eyes and dark brown hair. His supersuit consists of a sleeveless red suit with dark blue on the inside of the legs, stomach and an atomic model on his chest. This is paired with a blue mask with solid white eyes, a gold belt, silver wrist bands and silver boots. One version has sleeves with blue shoulders. A villainous version wore a black and tan sleeveless suit with a silver mask

Powers[]

Atom-Smasher's primary ability is to change his size by altering the distance between his atoms, giving him superhuman strength and durability the bigger he gets. At his largest, he is completely unfazed by machine gun fire. He is also a skilled pilot, mechanic, and athlete. He is fluent in Kahndaqi. The villainous version grew by absorbing radiation and had an apparent limit of around 13 feet.

Weaknesses[]

He is unable to shrink below his normal height. While certain versions have been to be able to grow past the height of a five-story building, other versions experience extreme discomfort past 28 feet. The villainous version had a limit to the amount of radiation he could absorb, past this limit resulted in fatal radiation poisoning.

Notes[]

  • Within the Arrowverse continuity, Earth-2 Atom Smasher was a villain. Since most Earth-2 villains were counterparts of Earth-1 heroes, it is possible that Earth-1 Al, had he become a meta-human, would have been a hero.
