The Aniwye is a legendary gigantic skunk featuring in the mythologies of North American cultures, such as the Ojibwe, as a creature that existed long ago.
Unlike modern skunks, the Aniwye was big enough to prey upon humans, and its smell was so fetid that it could kill victims merely by spraying them. It was also sapient and fully capable of speech. After being slayed, it was revived as a smaller, less threatening creature, thus giving rise to the modern skunk species.
