- Antonio is based upon Pizza Face, an evil character from the original 1980s-1990s TMNT action figure line. However, Antonio and Pizza Face are definitely separate entities with entirely different origins.
- Antonio may also be based upon the character Pizza the Hutt from Mel Brooks' Spaceballs, as he shares his appearance with Pizza the Hutt pretty closely.
