— Mention on Leonardo's 1991 action figure bio
The Armadillo Club is a mutated armadillo utilized by Leonardo for a time as a makeshift cudgel. It is unknown what an armadillo would be doing in Manhattan but it may have been located in another location.
Interestingly enough, the armadillo shares a lot more in common with a glyptodon or ankylosaurus. Its armored plating now extends to cover both its dorsal and ventral sides along both its torso and tail, covered in pock marks and with knobby osteoderms protruding from the back. Only the top of the head has armored plating. Its tail now ends in a heavy, though smooth, club. Other mutations include a burnt orange coloration (whereas armadillos are normally gray); huge, oblong ears; and a shortened, monkey- or dog-like face. Their forelimbs are now significantly longer than their hindlimbs, meaning that they would tilt their heads upwards while on the ground. If it had evolved from a banded armadillo, these have disappeared, as well, meaning it likely can no longer curl up into a defensive ball.
