Aurorus is a Rock/Ice-type Pokémon species generally regarded as extinct, although some specimens have been successfully revived from fossils. Its juvenile form is known as Amaura.
Biology[]
This species has originated in the region of Kalos in prehistoric eras, over 100 million years ago. Their appearance somewhat resembles a sauropod, although they're also notable for having two membranous sails growing on their heads, and a number of diamond-shaped crystals on the sides of their bodies. These crystals have the ability to produce frigid air, as cold as -155 degrees Celsius, thus acting as a defense mechanism to freeze potential enemies and create walls of ice.
Amaura's tail is very short and it only has a single claw on each of its hind legs, whereas its forelegs have none. When it evolves into Aurorus, the tail becomes much longer and it now has three claws on its hind legs and a fused hoof and Iguanodon-style claw on its forelegs. Their preference for seeking cold regions allowed them to avoid predators such as Tyrantrum. When they whinny, they can create auroras.
This species has an unbalanced gender ratio of seven males to one female. It also seems to have nocturnal habits, as it can only evolve at night, and is noted for its friendly and calm disposition.
