The Mutated Bacillus is a colossal bacterium speculated to be the result of waste from a chemical plant in New York.
Initially, a single daikaiju-sized individual existed, which could create smaller copies of itself to infect other creatures. These parasitic Bacilli are proportional in size to the cellular structure of their host, i.e. microscopic when they infect humans, but macroscopic when they infect daikaiju such as Zilla Junior.
Biology[]
Unlike regular bacilli, the Mutant Bacilli are spherical cells with small cilia. Their mouths open up like a four-petaled flower to reveal four grasping tentacles and a spear-like tongue which can be used to infect other creatures. The tips of their tentacles produce corrosive substances which can melt glass. When attacked, the Bacillus can enclose itself in a protective endospore, allowing it to survive Zilla Junior's atomic breath.
The Bacillus infection results in a life-threatening illness as the smaller Bacilli attach themselves to the host's cerebral cortex. Fortunately, an antibiotic was developed by Dr. Elsie Chapman, which cured those who had been infected and weakened the original Bacillus to the point that it could no longer form its endospore, thus allowing it to be destroyed by Zilla Junior.
