Badgermoles are a species of large burrowing mammals from the Earth Kingdom and known for their natural earthbending abilities which allow them to perceive the world without sight and navigate underground.

Since they originally taught earthbending to humans, they're highly respected in the Earth Kingdom; viewed similarly to how Dragons are viewed in the Fire Nation and Sky Bisons among the Air Nomads. Of these three species, Badgermoles are the only one not to be critically-endangered, and are still numerous.

Biology[]

Badgermoles are massive fossorial mammals with brown fur, strong legs equipped with five black claws each, and a long tail. They seem to be a social species, as they're often seen in pairs or groups, and are usually docile towards humans. When they're not, they can be soothed by music. They seem to have a natural enmity with the Wolfbats that inhabit the same caves as them.

Completely sightless, Badgermoles perceive the world through a connection to the earth, and also use their earthbending abilities to move earth around, creating tunnels and underground chambers.
