Banette is a Ghost-type Pokémon species originally identified in the Hoenn region. It has a juvenile stage known as Shuppet.
Exposure to the Mega Stone known as Banettite causes this Pokémon to temporarily transform into Mega Banette.
Biology[]
Banette is a bipedal doll-like creature, and seems to have originated as an actual toy which has been abandoned and possessed by some form of grudgeful spirit. It has dark grey skin and red eyes, and its mouth is a perpetually-closed zipper, which holds its energy inside it. If it were to open its mouth, its power would escape. It can curse its enemies by sticking pins into its own body.
Banette can often be found in garbage dumps and wandering about the cities, searching for the children that threw them away before they gained life. Some people claim that treating them well enough will placate their resentment, causing the satisfied Banette to revert to its original inanimate state and become a doll again.
Wild populations of this species have been located in the regions of Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola.
Shuppet[]

Banette's juvenile stage, Shuppet, resembles a limbless purple ghost with a conical horn on its head and very large eyes. This urban and nocturnal Pokémon feeds on negative emotions such as jealousy and vindictiveness, and will congregate in swarms in places where these feelings are strong.
