Barbatus Ossifrages are creatures in Grimm.
Etymology[]
Barbatus Ossifrage is latin for "Bearded Bone Breaker"
Appearance[]
They have pale orange skin and red feathers. They have a long, tube-like tongue the is designed for sucking.
Society[]
They are the clean-up crew of the Wesen world. They go to dead people and eat them. When old, they eat liquid bone and are fed by their offspring like baby birds. During this time, the offspring seeks out people who are about to die and break their bones, usually by throwing them off a cliff or, in the absence of a cliff, driving over them with a car a few times. They then inject them with a digestive enzyme and drink the liquefied bone. Then, they go to the older Barbatus Ossifrage and regurgitate the liquid bone directly into their mouth. Barbatus Ossifrage don't like to do this and usually apologize before breaking the person's bones. Like most Wesen, they are afraid of Grimms. They leave an area after three or four bodies. They can be found in places where a lot of people die.
Abilities[]
They have a highly developed sense of smell, so developed that they can smell blood and even imminent death from several yards away. This sense of smell isn't diminished by their human form.
