Big Blue is the name given to a large serpentine cryptid inhabiting the placid waters of Heuvelmans Lake, Georgia, where it's treated as a touristic attraction.
In 1996 FBI agents Mulder and Scully investigated a series of deaths in the vicinity of the lake (including Scully's pet Pomeranian, Queequeg), believed to have been caused by Big Blue. It turned out that the real culprit was a large and particularly hostile alligator, which was shot dead by Mulder. Even so, Big Blue was truly out there in the lake, but the agents failed to observe it.
