Bill Cipher is an ancient, powerful supernatural entity who served as the main antagonist in Gravity Falls although doesn't appear much himself within the series, but made a dozen cameos in each episode.
Biology[]
Bill Cipher is a demonic one-eyed creature whose body is shaped like a small pyramid blessed with short limbs, wearing both long hat and bowtie. He also can predict events from especially before when they hasven't happen yet and is able to change his size and form to a more frightening monstrous appearance.
He appears and disappears in a strange circle surrounded with symbols, can project a blue flame from his own hand whenever making a "deal" with someone and lacks of corporeal form therefore, he could only exist from inside the mindscape as well take control of person's own body.
Notes[]
- After the credits, Bill's lifeless statue is mysteriously shown for a brief moment in real-life, this later becomes the alternate reality game know as Cipher Hunt.
- In spite of his death, there was a hidden message which Bill himself encoded that suggest he might resurrect at some point.
- According to Alex Hirsch, he only called Bill a "dream demon" for lack of a better word.
- His name is a combination of the pseudonyms "Lou Cipher" and "Bill Zebub", both of which are puns on "Lucifer" and "Beelzebub" respectively. His first name also being a play on the dollar bill, which often has the eye of providence on the back, which Bill himself resembles.
- Bill's home world, the Second Dimension, could be a nod to the titular plane of Edwin Abbott's novel Flatland.
