Blinking Spirits are a type of spirit that exists on Dominaria, first appearing in historical records during Terisiare's last glacial period. They are known to disappear (or "blink") out of existence at a moment's notice, though whether they teleported or simply slipped between dimensions is unknown. Notably, Goblins are scared of them.

Blinking Spirit 2

The creatures were unique in that while they had a humanoid torso, their necks ended without a head attached. Instead, a glowing light shone from the end of this extremity. There were two known types: A smoother-looking type with four wings protruding from their backs and a pair of arms that ended in what appeared to be flippered hands, and a second type with ridged vertebral extensions out of their backs with four arms and no wings. Both species have elongated tails that end in a spade.

They have ceased appearing as of some years ago, though the cause of this is unknown. Given their ability to disappear, they presumably are not extinct and have simply moved on.

    • At no cost, the controller could return the card to the owner's hand.
  • This creature was the origin of the term "Blinking" on other cards.
