The Breeder Beast is a strange kaiju, with a grub-like semi-transparent body and the ability to consume almost anything. Its name derives from the fact that its metabolism has been compared to a breeder reactor.

The natural size of this species is tiny, but a specimen was mutated by chemical pollution, which resulted in its disproportionate growth.

Biology[]

This creature appears to be amphibious - able to operate on land as well as underwater. Its body is highly amorphous, and capable of extending pseudopods to manipulate things. It can ingest and assimilate pretty much anything, from natural gas to missiles to bulldozers. It appears that the material it consumes is digested by the creature's nucleus, which controls its internal reactions and physiology.

At first, this monster is seen consuming enormous quantities of natural gas, at least some of which is stored into its body. For this reason, parts of the creature have been shown to explode when in contact with fire, causing Dr. Quinn Darien to compare it to "an oozing mass of nitroglycerin". The reaction also means that using fire or missiles against this creature is highly dangerous. Later, the creature learns to control its internal reactions, so that Godzilla's laser beams no longer result in explosions, only in the beast's pseudopods retreating.

It's later shown that besides gas, the creature also needs to consume precious metals such as gold and silver, which cause its body to irradiate a golden luminescence. Godzilla eventually manages to defeat the monster by aiming his laser beams at its nucleus, which causes most of the Breeder Beast's body to dissolve and leaves behind only a crystallized mineral mass (formed from the materials it had consumed previously) and the creature, now reduced to its original small size.
