This is a flying creature described as looking similar to a huge white butterfly. It was observed by the unnamed time traveler from H.G. Wells The Time Machine, when he visited the far distant future.
Environment[]
They live in a coastal area under a perpetual twilight, presumably located in the region that was once the United Kingdom. Theirs is an era in which the Earth has become so old that it's now tidally locked (one side facing the sun permanently and the other side locked in perpetual nighttime). The atmosphere is also noted as having become more rarefied than it used to be. They share their environment with a species of giant Crab Creatures.
