Carbink is a Rock/Fairy-type Pokémon species first identified in the Kalos region. The mythical Pokémon Diancie was originally a mutated Carbink.
Biology[]
Members of this species are small, limbless creatures whose bodies resemble rocks with encrusted crystals and a pair of light blue eyes on the head. The head is separated from the body by a mane of soft white fur which can be used by these gregarious Pokémon to clean each other's crystals. The crystal on a Carbink's head can be used to fire energy beams for defense.
Carbink are born deep below the surface, in environments of elevated temperature and pressure. They are considered genderless, and can remain in hibernation for hundreds of millions of years, sometimes to awake only when unearthed by some cave excavation project. Pokédex entries from the anime suggest that their bodies may be as hard as diamonds.
Wild populations of Carbink are known to exist in the Alolan archipelago, as well as the region of Kalos. Their natural predators include Sableye and Gabite. Although they're not rare, Carbink have drawn the attention of people due to their jewel-encrusted bodies. There exist stories about a particular colony of Carbink ruled by a queen which live in a subterranean kingdom of jewels.
