Echinoderms are a phylum of invertebrate animals that include crinoids, starfish, sea urchins, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, and sea lilies. In real life, they are restricted to the oceans and have no freshwater nor terrestrial representatives, although media has likely created some of their own. They have a radial symmetry, usually with five points though sometimes more are seen.
In media, they are less common than other invertebrates, but are not uncommon in any sense. Starfish appear the most often, and sea urchins appear frequently as well. Crinoids are rare but do appear in some media based on prehistoric life in some fashion or another. However, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, and sea lilies are rare to see in media.
