Creatures identified as Goblins. Historically, the word "Goblin" has been used to identify a wide variety of creatures of many shapes and forms, some fictional, some folkloric.
Nowadays, Goblins are an extremely common creature type seen in media, especially in fantasy-based settings. Usually considered related to Orcs in some way. Oftentimes they are seen as shorter, weaker, and more cowardly cousins of Orcs.
Although the Goblins in The Lord of the Rings could technically be included here, they are in actuality Orcs; in that series "Goblin" is only a translation of the word "Orc", used similarly to "Deutchland" being referred to as "Germany" by may outside countries.
