Starfish, more accurately known as sea stars, are a common invertebrate in media, and the most common representation of the echinoderms. Possessing multiple arms (usually 5 but some real life species are known to have up to 50), they look similar to the star shape.
They notably have to plop their stomach out of their bodies to eat, but this isn't seen in most media sources. They are sometimes depicted with extreme regeneration, where each segment sliced off of one can regenerate a whole new body, although again this is rare in media.
