Chickeraffes are a rare and elusive species of large, flightless birds.
Biology[]
Chickeraffes are colorful bipeds, most notable for their segmented legs and neck, which can be extended and retracted at will; allowing them to curl up into a feathery sphere and fit into small spaces. Their feet can cling to walls and ceilings, but their small wings are useless for flight. They have a pair of ossicones on their heads, like those of a giraffe, and also have a prehensile tongue.
Their natural diet is very specific and consists, curiously, of neckties; as the jungles of Chickeraffe Island contain strange trees that bear neckties like fruits. Their disposition is generally affectionate, although they seem to have a tendency for hyperactive behavior. They also practice parental care. Despite being docile, they are by no means defenseless, and can erect their feathers to make them sharp like blades when attacked. For some reason, they are instinctively afraid of fleas.
