The Chinese Dragon is an ill-tempered dragon who lived on top of a mountain and terrorized a small village in ancient China by forcing the villagers to give all of their food to him, otherwise he would eat the villagers instead.

Biology[]

This dragon is a bipedal, reptilian, and extremely ferocious beast who can breathe fire from his mouth and nostrils.

History[]

One day, a villager sent his orange cat to deliver a lasagna to appease the Dragon, but the cat ate the lasagna on the way and showed up with nothing. To avoid being eaten, the cat challenged the Dragon to an eating contest, but ended up infuriating the Dragon even more as the cat ate all his food. The legend goes on to say that the Dragon chased the cat away and neither of them were seen after this, but to this day, the Chinese people fear that if an orange cat eats all the food available in a place, such as a restaurant, the Dragon will show up to get his revenge.

When Jon Arbuckle took his cat Garfield to a Chinese restaurant, the owner told him about this legend and asked him to take Garfield away before the Dragon showed up. Jon remained skeptical, but at the end, it turns out that the story was not only true, but the Dragon was indeed still alive after thousands of years and still seeking revenge on the cat.

Appearances[]

  • Garfield and Friends, s02e24, "China Cat" (1989)

Notes[]

  • A similar dragon also makes an appearance in the Season 6 episode "Jon the Barbarian", set in the year 11.5 a.D. Given the Chinese Dragon's longevity, it is possible that it is indeed the same individual.
