The Clatta (Testudicaudatus tardus) is a species of slow-moving arboreal prosimians which live in the world of 50 million years in the future, inhabiting rainforests in Africa and Asia.
Biology[]
Clattas are gentle-looking sloth-like primates, with grey fur and large eyes. Their diet consists entirely of leaves. They are usually found in the lowest levels of the canopy, where they hangs upside down from tree branches with long curved claws. However, their most notable feature is their elongated prehensile tail, which is covered in tough armor-like horny plates for protection.
When a Clatta finds itself threatened by a predator, such as a Striger, it holds the tree branch with its tail, and allows its body to hang upside down, safely away from the danger. The armored tail is so long that the Clatta remains safely out of reach; and so tough that the Striger can't do any harm to it.
