The Crab Monsters are a race of intelligent giant land crabs, created as a result of radiation from nuclear tests on a remote island in the Pacific. They have developed the ability to absorb the minds of people whose flesh they have eaten, and are capable of projecting their voices over long distances.
Biology[]
The Crab Monsters have been mutated down to the atomic level. Their molecular structure has been described as "disrupted", as "there's no cohesion between the atoms". This structure is such that anything the monsters consume is immediatelly assimilated into their bodies. That's why they can absorb the minds of the people they eat, as well as telepathically transmitting their voices and thoughts. They also have psychokinetic abilities and can cause things to explode.
However, their disrupted molecules also result in some vulnerabilities. Exposure to electric discharges causes their bodies to dissolve immediately. In spite of their physical strength, they can be dismembered and even killed with relative ease. On the other hand, bullets will pass straight through them without causing damage, and they can regenerate lost limbs in only a few hours.
History[]
The Crab Monsters consider themselves a superior species and plan to destroy humanity. Using their psychic abilities to alter their surrounding geography, they have been slowly tearing down the island in order for it to sink, as this will destroy all the humans who know about their existence. That way the monsters will retread to the ocean and have enough time to plan their long-term attack on humanity, seeking to conquer the world and become the new dominant species on the planet.
