The Creatures of Blood Beach (as they've been referred to by the press) are a species of large, worm-like life forms with greenish skin and a circular flower-like mouth. They live under the sands of Southern California beaches and grab live prey from below, dragging the prey underground to be devoured. Sometimes they don't consume the entire prey, only tear off a portion of it and retreat. They have been observed to be active both day and night.
