The De Loys' Ape was a fabricated species of ape hoaxed by Louis François Fernand Hector de Loys as a supposed "missing link" between man and ape.
Reality[]
The supposed evidence of its existence is a single photo, which is actually that of a taxidermized spider monkey carcass positioned to sit upright like a human.
