Desert Sharks (Psammonarus sp.) are a species of strange, subterranean predators which inhabit the great deserts of Africa and Asia about 50 million years in the future.

Biology[]

These elongated mammals are among the several descendants of the shrew lineage, and have shovel-like paws which allow them to swim under the soft sand swiftly. Their skin is pink, wrinkled and mostly hairless, and their mouths contain numerous sharp teeth, all roughly equal in size and shape. They detect prey using sensory pits on their noses, and burst into the underground burrows of unsuspecting rodents in order to devour them. When at rest, Desert Sharks may often be found close to the sand's surface, with only their eyes and nostrils showing up.
