Dwarfs, or Dwarves (singular: Dwarf) are humanoid creatures that in most legends are short and stocky, almost always with facial hair of various lengths whether male or female, although they are believed to have been based on normal sized people encountered by the ancient Germanic cultures. The Dwarf is also known for living and working below ground as miners and stone workers.

Notes[]

  • According to the creation myth, when Ymir was slain by Odin, Vili and Ve, his body formed the Earth, and the dwarves were formed from the maggots that fed on his corpse. Possibly suggesting they're actually insects.
