Floatzel is a Water-type Pokémon species from the Sinnoh region. Its juvenile stage is called Buizel.

Biology[]

Buizel

Buizel and Floatzel are known as the "Sea Weasel Pokémon" due to their musteline body shape and aquatic lifestyle. They have short, tridactyl legs, two tails, a head crest, and fangs. Their fur is mostly orange, with a cream-colored underside, and they also have blue fins growing on their forearms, and an inflatable yellow organ resembling a flotation sac, which encircles their necks as Buizel, and their entire bodies as Floatzel. Males have two cream-colored spots on their back while females have one.

This Pokémon dives by deflating its floater, and swims by rapidly rotating its two tails like a propeller. The tails move quick enough to slice through seaweed, preventing the Pokémon from getting entangled in it. When the flotation sac is inflated, Floatzel and Buizel will keep their heads above the surface and watch for potential prey.

Although they're most common in Sinnoh, wild populations of this species can also be found in certain locations in both Unova and Kalos. In some places, they have been employed as lifeguards to rescue people who are drowning.
