Flygon is a Ground/Dragon-type Pokémon species originally identified in the Hoenn region. It has a juvenile stage called Trapinch and an intermediary stage called Vibrava.
Biology[]
Trapinch[]

Members of this species start life as Trapinch, a pure ground-type, tail-less, quadrupedal Pokémon with a comically oversized head and short legs. Its eyes are black and glossy, and its head is almost entirely dominated by its huge serrated jaws which are strong enough to crush boulders.
Trapinch are ambush predators whose hunting method consists of digging pits in the desert and waiting at the bottom to attack any prey that falls into them. Being adapted to an arid environment, this Pokémon can survive for a week without food or water.
Wild populations of this species can be found in desert areas in the regions of Hoenn, Kalos and Alola, as well as the White Forest in eastern Unova.
Vibrava[]

Flygon's intermediary stage is Vibrava: a four-legged dragonfly-like creature which, unlike Flygon, possesses two pairs of diamond-shaped wings rather than just one pair. Its eyes are also green in coloration, contrasting with Trapinch's black and Flygon's red. When Trapinch evolves into Vibrava, it acquires the ability to fly and becomes a ground/dragon-type rather than just ground.
Unlike Trapinch, Vibrava is an active predator and has a curious hunting technique which involves vibrating its wings at such high frequency to create ultrasonic waves powerful enough to stun prey and give people headaches. Since its wings aren't fully developed, it cannot fly for long distances. After getting a hold on prey, this liquivorous predator uses acid to melt down the prey's interior before consumption. It has also been known to bury prey alive in the desert as means of preserving it for later.
Flygon[]
Flygon, the final stage, is a 2 meters tall biped whose appearance combines insectoid and draconic aspects. It has a pair of huge, semi-transparent red eyes on its head as well as a couple of long horns or antennae. Its neck and tail are both elongated and it possesses a pair of diamond-shaped wings, short arms and legs, clawed tridactyl hands and toe-less feet. A shield-like cover on its eyes serves to confer it protection against sand.
Flygon's ability to generate sandstorms with its wings; combined with a mysterious singing sound which resonates from its wings flapping; has earned it monikers such as the Desert Spirit and the Mystic Pokémon. Creatures unfortunate enough to be lured into the sandstorm by the beautiful singing will quickly become prey for Flygon. Besides hunting alone, it may also form a symbiotic partnership with Krookodile, which will ambush prey concealed by the sandstorm created by Flygon. The two predators share their spoils afterwards.
