Fox-squirrels, a.k.a. Squirrel-foxes, are a species of small, aggressive mammals which live in the vicinity of the Valley of the Wind, over a thousand years after the collapse of industrial civilization. Long before that, a population of them could also be found on the artificial floating country of Laputa.

Despite their small size, they are noted as dangerous and aggressive creatures, and it's not advisable to handle even the young ones.
