The Fyndhorn Elves were a subspecies of Wood Elf that evolved from the survivors of the Argothian Elves who had been in the right place at the wrong time when Urza Planeswalker activated the Golgothian Sylex, firing a beam that destroyed most of the island nation of Argoth, its remaining portion to become Fyndhorn. They existed from the time of the Sylex Blast (when they began to evolve) to Terisiare's last glacial period.
Like druids of the world at the time, they worshiped the planeswalker Freyalise, whom they saw as a goddess of nature. Culturally, they were slightly more open to outsiders than their ancestors had been, and were willing to engage in diplomacy with the humans of Kjeldor via the Juniper Order.
Unfortunately, despite having worshiped her all this time, it was their "goddess" Freyalise who would be their island's undoing the second time when she cast the World Spell to end Dominaria's magically-forced Ice Age. In doing so, the glaciers and vast fields of snow melted away, flooding the lands but also the seas and sinking the island of Fyndhorn beneath the waves. The elf Kaysa and a Kjeldor knight named Jaeuhl Carthalion led a number of refugees to the mainland, following their way up the Yavimaya River and settling in the forest of Yavimaya, where they would eventually evolve into the Yavimayan Elves.
