The Giants are huge humanoid creatures that lived in the far north of Westeros.

Overview[]

They are considered to be a legend by people of the Seven Kingdoms south of the Wall. However, The giants do actually exist in the furthest north beyond the Wall, and have had some interactions with the human wildlings.

Along with the children and white walkers, they have never been seen for thousands of years before The War of the Five Kings. They have sloped chests, and their lower torsos are about half again as wide as their upper torsos. Their arms hang lower than a man's, while their legs are shorter than their arms, ending in splayed and horny feet. They ride mammoths as steeds and logs as weapons for combat.

Before the Great War, the Night King has revived some of the dead giants into wights. As the army of the dead arrived in Winterfell and began a huge battle against the living forces. One wight giant storms into Winterfell, killing several defenders, badly injuring Lyanna Mormont. As Lyanna charged towards the giant, it only grabbed and squeezed her to death, only for Lyanna to stab its eye with her dragonglass dagger at the same time, killing them both.

After the battle, it is unknown if the giants were truly extinct although they can still be a few left beyond the wall.

One of the most famous members of the species are Wun Wun and possibly the half giant half human Hodor.
