Universe A Gnome Named Gnorm

The Gnomes are a sapient race of small subterranean humanoids whose society depends upon magical phosphorescent gems called lumens, which provide light in the underground world and allows them to grow their food crops. Their society has individuals divided according to their function, including tunnelers and warriors. Every ten years the warriors bring the lumens to the surface world to be recharged.

Biology[]

Physically, an average Gnome is short and skinny. They're furry mammalian bipeds with large pointy ears and long faces. Their hands have five fingers, and they're capable of extremely fast tunneling. While they may appear weak and fragile, the Gnome skin is incredibly resilient, being impervious to perforation from needles and even bullets.

They seem capable of some slight form of psychic suggestion, being able to make people fall asleep just with a few gestures and sounds. They're also capable of speaking English, albeit with poor grammar.

  • A Gnome Named Gnorm (1990)

Notes[]

  • Gnorm has used the term "Púcas" to refer to the females of his species, but it's not clear if this is an official term or some affectionate slang. In mythology, Púcas are a distinct species, unrelated to Gnomes.
