Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveler came as a large Torb. Then, during the third reconciliation of the Meketrex supplicants, they chose a new form for him, that of a giant Sloar. Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day,
Vinz Clortho, possessing the body of Louis Tully.

Gozer the Gozerian; a.k.a. Gozer the Destructor, Gozer the Traveler or Volguus Zildrohar; is a shapeshifting interdimensional god of destruction, which has been worshiped since at least 6,000 BC in Sumeria. Whenever it manifests itself in the mortal plan, Gozer orders those who witness its arrival to choose the form it will take, and then proceeds to spread havoc.

Gozer is served by two hellhound-like beasts named Zuul and Vinz Clortho, both of which must possess humans and perform a passionate ritual to open the gate for their master.

History[]

The Shandor Building in New York City was constructed to harness spiritual energy like a superconductive antenna. The architect, lvo Shandor, was also a surgeon and an occultist who formed a society of Gozer cultists in the 1920s, and designed the building with the specific purpose of allowing Gozer to be summoned, to appear once again to wage destruction and bring about the biblical apocalypse.

However, it was only decades after Shandor's death that his nefarious plan nearly came to fruition. In 1984, Gozer's demonic beasts, Zuul and Vinz Clortho escaped into the mortal world and possessed two of the building's residents. Zuul possessed Dana Barrett while Vinz Clortho possessed Louis Tully. When the two came together, the gate was opened and Gozer was released. It first appeared in the form of a beautiful woman, and was confronted by the Ghostbusters, led by Ray Stantz. When Stantz ordered Gozer to leave, the latter demanded to know if Stantz was a god. As the Ghostbuster answered in the negative, Gozer responded by unleashing powerful energy blasts to attack them.

After a brief combat, Gozer ordered the Ghostbusters to choose what form the Destructor would take. Peter Venkman tried to convince his colleagues not to think of anything, but it was too late, as a figure had already popped into Stantz's mind: that of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Stantz's rationale was that he was trying to come up with a friendly and innocent form, and felt that the beloved mascot could never endanger them. The result was a daikaiju-sized Marshmallow Man rampaging through New York. Fortunately, Egon Spengler came up with a plan to reverse the particle flow through the gate by crossing the streams of their proton packs, thus destroying the Marshmallow Man and banishing Gozer back to its native dimension.
