Clobbopus

Grapploct and Clobbopus are octopus-like, predominantly aquatic creatures, although they can survive just as well on land. They seem to have a preference for cold, icy waters.

Clobbopus[]

Clobbopus is a relatively small large-headed creature which walks on six short tentacles, while an additional pair acts as its arms. This pair of arms is far more developed, ending in large, round extremities that bear superficial resemblance to boxing gloves.

Its skin is white, with an orange mask around its eyes as well as orange spots on its forehead. The siphon on the side of its head and the suckers on its arms are also orange, whereas the "gloves" are purple. It has blue eyes with horizontal slit purple pupils. The underside of its walking tentacles is also purple.

Clobbopus are notoriously curious creatures and spend their days foraging for food on land and investigating their surroundings. However, their method of investigating new things seems to consist of punching them. Their tentacles are fragile at this stage, but regenerate if they break off. Their intelligence has been compared to that of a three-year-old child.

Grapploct[]

Grapploct, the adult form of this species, stands over twice as tall as Clobbopus and weighs almost ten times as much. Unlike Clobbopus, its eight tentacles are all equally well-developed, although it uses only three of them for moving on land. Of the others, two pairs are used as arms, whereas the last tentacle is usually wrapped around its body like a belt. Compared to Clobbopus', Grapploct's head is more elongated. It is mostly dark blue and black on the underside, with a yellow mask, siphon and suckers. Its mouth is V-shaped and toothless.

On water, Grapploct are fast swimmers, and use their tentacles for stroking, much like a human swimmer, rather than relying on jet propulsion like most octopuses. Their bodies are made almost entirely of muscle, giving them extraordinary strength, and like their name indicates, they're particularly adept at grappling. While Clobbopus' ventures into land are primarily motivated by hunger, Grapploct actively seeks out opponents for combat, and returns to the water after the fight. Wild battles between Grapploct and Golisopod are known to occur, in which the loser becomes food for the winner.
