The Great Tree is a large, aquatic plant, whose roots serve as shelter to the Merggles; who regard the tree as the center of all life.
Biology[]
The Great Tree is located within the Merggle Lake, whose waters are connected by an underground tunnel to the Fraggle Pond, within the realm of Fraggle Rock. Sometimes the roots can grow as far as to reach the pond itself, upon which they form pink growths that the Fraggles refer to as "knobblies" and regard as an undesirable weed, as it interferes with their underwater frolic activities.
By holding onto the tree's roots, creatures such as Merggles and Fraggles are capable of sending telepathic messages to each other, as these messages are transmitted by the root system somehow.
Although the Great Tree is highly resistant, it does have a high vulnerability to kohlrabi juice, which causes its roots to wither and die.
