The Greibble is a mysterious large creature with a friendly disposition but a voracious appetite for inanimate objects. Its origins are not known, but it seems to have originated as a supernatural manifestation of a children's book.
Biology[]
The Greibble is a tall mammalian biped with shaggy purplish fur covering most of its body down to its short tail; while its legs and abdomen are hairless. Its face is hairless too, save for a mustache-like growth on its muzzle. Its hands have five long fingers, resembling those of a frog, while its stout legs end in vaguely elephantine feet. It has expressive human-like eyes, a bovine muzzle and ears, and a long tongue with which it licks people to express affection. What may appear like a couple of horns on its head are actually flexible, mobile antennae. It only communicates by making animal-like noises.
The most notable characteristic of the Greibble is its extraordinary, insatiable appetite for all sorts of objects, including things such as cushions, telephones, forks, cuckoo clocks, television sets, light bulbs and portraits. It is strong enough to casually burst through wooden doors and car ceilings.
History[]
The Greibble mysteriously appeared in Joan Simmons' house shortly after she had thrown away several of her son's children's books (reasoning that he had outgrown them). Despite its docile nature, the Greibble's constant appetite resulted in extensive damage to the house and furniture, but no matter what method she tried, Joan was incapable of getting rid of it. At last, when she was about to kill the Greibble with a shotgun, she instead took pity on the frightened monster and finally came to accept it.
When Joan's son returned home and started to hastily retrieve his books from the trash, Joan was surprised to find that one of the books featured the Greibble, and told the story of a mother (resembling herself in the illustrations) trying to get rid of it in the same way she had. When she entered the house again, she saw that the Greibble was no longer there, and neither was the destroyed furniture, as everything was inexplicably back to normal.
