Gurrows are a race of intelligent bipedal bears, which inhabit the North American continent in a future in which humanity has long been annihilated by nuclear warfare, ten million years before the emergence of Gurrows.
Biology[]
Like their ancestors, Gurrows are strongly-built creatures. A typical adult male can stand about 2.5 yards when erect, and weighs over 250 kg. Their younglings are still covered in fur, but this is no longer present in the adults.
Culture and society[]
Gurrows live communally, but in very spacious cities, with each house located a considerable distance from its neighbors. Although they're not as social as the primate-derived species, they are far more peaceful and friendly.
Their social structure is basically a type of organized anarchy, in which individuals choose the job they wish to pursue, but also need to perform tasks which are considered undesirable by most, such as garbage collecting or ditch-digging. Civil administration is considered just a job as any other, and is pursued by individuals who feel interested and inclined to do it; as it confers no more benefits and no more power than any other position. Decisions are invariably communal and resources are distributed equally.
Although Gurrow science has advanced to the point past the industrial revolution, they still have very little knowledge of geography as they've never explored other continents and are initially unaware of the other races that inhabit them, such as the Eekahs. They've never developed aircraft and, thanks to their lack of aggressiveness, their military research is basically nonexistent. Projectile-based weapons and radioactivity were equally unknown to them before they made contact with Eekahs.
