The Gyaa-Hua, also spelled Gyaa-Hau, are a poorly-known species of anthropoid simians which lived thousands of years ago in the old continent of Atlantis, where they were enslaved by the Atlanteans to work in their factories.
Biology[]
They're ghoulish gorilla-like creatures with superhuman strength and endurance.
Appearances[]
- "Bothon", by Henry S. Whitehead and H. P. Lovecraft (1946)
Notes[]
- Interestingly, Atlantis was also inhabited by "ape-men and apes" in Robert E. Howard's "The Hyborian Age" (1936). As a fellow contributor to the Cthulhu Mythos, Howard might have been an influence on Whitehead and Lovecraft.
- Given the similarities of their names, the Gyaa-Hua might be the mammalian species that was bred with the reptilian Yothics (possibly the inhabitants of the Nameless City) to produce the repto-mammalian Gyaa-Yothn.
