The Howler (Aligerattus bombus; Booming Winged-Rat) is a species of giant flying rodents - vaguely similar to, but not actually related to bats - which inhabit the jungles of Skull Island.
Overview[]
They have a shaggy fur coat and a naked tail similar to that of a rat or opossum. However, they're most easily distinguished by their large, bulbous eyes with aid them in locating their prey while flying above the canopies. Their menu consists of large insects, lizards, birds and smaller rodents, including the Skull Island White Bat. It is unknown if these animals survived the destruction of the island in 1948, along with the flying animals.
Notes[]
- Their appearances were very similar to the real-life cryptid, Ahool.
