Hypno is a Psychic-type Pokémon species. Its juvenile stage is known as Drowzee. Both are also known as the Hypnosis Pokémon.

Biology[]

Drowzee and Hypno are mammalian bipeds known for their soporific and hypnotic abilities and for feeding upon dreams, with a special preference for the dreams of children. They're believed to have descended from the Baku and share a common ancestry with Musharna.

While they're predominantly yellow in color, the rare shiny variant is pink.

Drowzee[]

Drowzee

Members of this species are born as Drowzee: a portly creature resembling a bipedal tapir which stands about a meter in height and weighs 32.4 kg. The upper half of its body is yellow, while the lower half is dark brown. It has three-fingered hands and two-toed feet.

Drowzee's favorite tactics consist of putting opponents to sleep and feeding on their dreams. It particularly enjoys pleasant dreams, whereas consuming "bad dreams" can make it sick. It can use its nose to detect what people are dreaming.

A Drowzee remembers every dream it's eaten, and considers children's dreams tastier than adults' dreams. Humans who sleep in close proximity to a Drowzee may not only have their dreams eaten, but can also be shown dreams that the Drowzee has consumed previously.

Hypno[]

When Drowzee evolves, its appearance changes significantly, as Hypno more closely resembles a kind of bipedal tail-less primate, as opposed to a tapir. It stands 1.6 m high and weighs 75.6 kg, which is over twice the weight of its previous stage.

Its body is entirely yellow, save for a ruff of white fur, which is longer in females than in males. Its ears are perfectly triangular, its hands have five digits, including an opposable thumb, and its feet have three toes. A large nose resembling that of a male proboscis monkey (present in both male and female Hypno) replaces Drowzee's tapir-like trunk.

Hypno always carry a hypnotist's pendulum with them to help put victims to sleep and feed on their dreams. They're infamous for abducting children on occasion, although such cases are actually quite rare.

Reproduction[]

Like all Pokémon, Hypno lay eggs, and hatch as Drowzee. They specifically belong to the "Human-like" egg group, meaning they only breed with other Pokémon of the same group, if not their own species.
