Ikuchi is a yōkai Sea Serpent that appears in Japanese mythology. Some believe them to be the spirits of people who have drowned.
Overview[]
The Ikuchi is described as an elongated fish-like creature that appears in the open seas and typically comes in contact with a boat once it encounters one. An adhesive oil seeps out from its body surface, and when the Ikuchi contacts a boat, it spills a large amount of this oil on it, resulting in that if this is not scooped out, the boat will sink.
