Karen Jennings was one of few and possibly the only surviving member of Pinewood Farms, a former division of Wayne Enterprises. She is original to the TV show Gotham and doesn't appear in any other media
History[]
Karen was born with a deformed arm and was repeatedly beaten by her father. She fought back and he fell down the stairs, broke his neck and died. She was sent to prison for murder where she was approached by Wayne Enterprises scientists and she was told that they could make her better. She was taken to Pinewood Farms where she underwent genetic experimentation that transformed her deformed arm into a reptilian arm with three sharp claws. It is unknown how much of her arm was reptilian. After Thomas Wayne shut down Pinewood, she was moved to a secluded house outside Gotham City where Thomas visited her a few times a year over the next ten years. The week before his death, Thomas visited her believing that Pinewood had started up again.
Two years after Thomas' death, his son Bruce and his butler Alfred visit her. After initially attacking them she takes to the long abandoned Pinewood facility where they are arrested by police. She was being sent to Black Gate Penitentiary, which is the same prison she was in before, when she was rescued by Bruce, Alfred and James Gordon. She reveals that the head scientist at Pinewood went by the name "The Philosopher", who is the same person who hired a hit-man to kill the Waynes. On the way to Wayne Manor to indentify the Philosopher from photos of all the scientists who work or worked at Wayne Enterprises, they are attack by Victor Fries. Realizing that Victor is after her, she comes forward and is subsequently frozen and smashed. Bruce, Alfred and James later learn from a photo that lists the nickname for each scientist at Wayne Enterprises that the Philosopher is Hugo Strange, the current head of Arkham Asylum.
