King Ghidorah is a giant three-headed dragon-like daikaiju created when three Dorats (bio-engineered creatures from the future) were fused together and mutated by radiation from atomic tests conducted at Bikini Atoll in 1954.

It was later converted into a cyborg creature known as Mecha-King Ghidorah.

History[]

In 2204, a group of political dissidents who resented the supremacy of Japan in their era traveled back in time to 1944 on Lagos Island and teleported the dinosaur that was destined to become Godzilla to the depths of the Bering Sea, leaving three Dorats in its place. When atomic tests were conducted at the nearby Bikini Atoll in 1954, instead of mutating the dinosaur into Godzilla as in the original timeline, they resulted in the creation of King Ghidorah: a destructive beast inimical to Japan.

In 1992, the Japanese tried to combat King Ghidorah by sending a nuclear submarine to the Bering Sea, hoping to mutate the dinosaur into Godzilla. The plan worked too well, however, and the dinosaur mutated into an even larger version of Godzilla, who proved to be even more destructive than Ghidorah himself. After the three-headed dragon was defeated (losing one of its heads in the process), Godzilla himself started to wreak havoc on Japan.

Back in 2204, a Japanese woman named Emmy Kano and the android M11 salvaged the still-living comatose body of King Ghidorah and turned it into the biomechanical Mecha-King Ghidorah, complete with a cybernetic head to replace the one it had lost. This cyborg monster, controlled by Kano and the android, was sent back to 1992, where it successfully put an end to Godzilla's rampage, but was itself destroyed in the process.
