Notes

  • In Kim Newman's novel The Bloody Red Baron, Professor Jakob ten Brincken (from Hanns Heinz Ewers' Alraune) develops a way to transform men into huge bat-like creatures. Mention is made that "Langstrom from Gotham University" has also claimed results with ten Brincken's formula. Since the novel takes place in 1917, it's possible that this might refer to an ancestor of Kirk Langstrom, rather than Kirk himself.
  • He was going to be one of two villains in Batman Unchained (also known as Batman Triumphant), however this movie was cancelled after the failure of Batman & Robin. He was to be played by Mark-Linn Baker or Martin Short.
  • While never directly featured in live action media, Man-Bat is referenced in several. A bat-like humanoid appears in one of Batman's nightmares in Batman v Superman and a character with bat wings appears in season 3 of Gotham.
