The Leaping Devil (Daemonops rotundus) is a small carnivorous bipedal predator which inhabits the great deserts of Earth, about 50 million years in the future. Although it descends from modern shrews, its morphology has become similar to that of gerbils and similar rodents, which constitute its natural prey along with other small animals such as lizards. True to its name, the Leaping Devil is a fearsome killer, despite its small size. It can leap over two meters in length and possesses extremely sharp teeth and talons.
