The Lernaenan Hydra, or simply Hydra, is a monstrous polycephalic aquatic reptile which terrorized the vicinity of Lake Lerna until it was slain by Heracles as the second of his celebrated twelve labours.
The Hydra is a fearsome beast, most well-known for its poisonous breath and its regenerative capacity. Whenever decapitated, two or three heads will grow to replace the severed one.
