The Marax, as it's known by the Atlanteans - or Crustaceus maracoti, as it's tentatively named by Dr. Maracot - is a previously undiscovered species of gigantic decapod encountered by Maracot and his companions while exploring a deep underwater pit in the Atlantic Ocean in 1926.
Biology[]
It is described as being not as elongated as a lobster yet not as short as a crab. It has black eyes, enormous claws and a pair of extremely long antennae, about 16 feet (~ 4.87 meters) in length. Its body is protected by a broad light-yellow carapace and measures about 30 feet in length (~ 9.14 meters) and 10 in width (~ 3.05 meters). It's noted as an aggressive creature, much feared by the Atlanteans.
